L’opera magna di Busa è l’Index Thomisticus. Sancti Thomae Aquinatis perum omnium indices et concordantiae: un compendio “lungo” 56 volumi, di circa 1000 pagine l’uno, per un totale di 62.000 che contiene l’indicizzazione completa di tutte le occorrenze di ogni singola parola usata da San Tommaso nelle sue opere.

Ventuno anni fa, questa summa è stata, ovviamente, digitalizzata. È infatti diventata prima un Cd Rom e poi un Dvd.

Ma come detto non si occupò solo di San Tommaso; infatti, grande cultore delle lingue, discuteva correntemente delle sue scoperte in latino, greco, ebraico, francese, inglese, spagnolo e tedesco; e, per sua stessa ammissione, se la “cavava” con il cirillico, finnico, boemo, georgiano, albanese, fin anche l’arabo, l’aramaico, il nabateo: lingue, queste ultime tre, che aveva “assaggiato” per poter studiare il con maggior profitto il Corano e i rotoli di Qumran.
